This is a potrait print on canvas of the lesser known artist; James Richmond Barthé (1901 - 1989). James Richmond Barthé's journey with art was intertwined with a mystical connection he seemed to have with nature. He believed that his uncanny artistic abilities were of sacred origins received by him through his connection with the devine mother earth. It was this phenomenon that drew me into learning more about him.

Tho he studied an incredible deal in his craft, his efforts were continually rejected by those in the field that he'd wanted to gain esteem with. Sadly, this was often due to racism. As a good looking black openly gay male he experienced his share of obstacles . Still he did not allow his authentic self to be stifled. He expressed who he was in his art and didn't back down. This brought both respect and ridicule. However despite this, he managed to live a full life that was far richer than most.

While painting this potrait it was as tho I'd encountered his spirit and that I was being guided by him in my strokes.

This piece features pinks, greys , teals , whites and blacks. It would serve any calm home, business, or office setting nicely as a subdued focal point.
